About the Item
Handsome pair of desk lamps in brass and wood, with pivoting shades
by Bröderna Johansson Auto-Metallfabrik., Skellefteå (BJS), Model 51/M.
Each with stamped marks 'BJS Skellefteå Sweden' and with 'S' paper label.
Founded in 1946, BJS was owned by two Johansson brothers and developed a speciality of pressure-turned objects including musical instrument elements (Dizzie Gillespie was a fan) and metal lampshades. Lighting design and production in the 1950s was a major focus of BJS which continued operations until 1979.
