About the Item

These lamps have been designed by Esben Klint, the son of Kaare Klint (the famous danish furniture designer). Esben has created a timeless design with this model, it has a contemporary and graphic side despite being over 50 years old. These lamps have been distributed by danish lamp manufacturer Le Klint. They have been produced by Palshus (Denmark), founded by Per and Annelise Linnemann-Schmidt. The couple created and produced chamotte (danish clay) objects with impressed decorations (tableware, vases, and lamps). Colors were characteristic Scandinavian earthy tones: blues, browns, greens and beige. Many talented ceramic artists also worked for Palshus including Jens H. Quistgaard and Esben Klint. Esben Klint completed an apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker and became an architect in Denmark. He opened his own design studio in 1954. He supervised the restoration of danish churches and castles, but worked also hard on his own architect business. During the 1960's he worked on school furniture, among other things, in a collaboration with his good friend Børge Mogensen. The lamps have an olive green glaze and come with a geometric line pattern on the base. The chamotte clay gives a natural and living surface. Signed under the base (EK for Esben Klint). They come with new lampshades and have been re-electrified. The original sockets have been preserved but can be replaced free of charge if desired. Dimension of the lampshades: diameter 15.75" / 10" (40cm / 25cm), height 11.4" (29cm). Height of the lamp base including socket 18.1" (46cm)
