Richo table lamp by Studio G14 for Imago DP, 1969
About the Item
Richo, was designed by Studio Gruppo 14, an Italian artist and art collective founded in Milan in 1962. Composed of Ettore Sordini, Enrico Castellani, and Piero Gilardi, the group’s work generally focused on the intersection between art, architecture, and design. Their works, which included installations, sculpture, and painting, explored the boundaries between art and non-art.
Production was done by a small Milanese lighting company, Imago DP. Given the historical context, we assume that the production of Richo was highly limited, leaving only a few of these remarkable lamps preserved in their original condition.
Richo showcases a distinctive composition, featuring a base constructed from metal and rubber. This base provides support for a total of 15 strips, alternating between shades of orange and white, and comes in two different sizes. The brilliance of the design lies in its intentional flexibility, which allows users to explore and express their creativity. Countless configurations are possible, and the interplay of colors adds a dynamic element to the overall aesthetic. By using a mirrored light bulb, the light remains contained within the dome, resulting in mesmerizing illumination.
We bought this lamp without the strips and we have restored all the polystyrene strips of this lamp in the original colors and dimensions.
