Sculptural table lamp in steel and glass, collectible Mid-Century design
About the Item
Offered for sale is a stunning and seldom seen table lamp, made in Italy in the early Seventies, at the dawn of the "Space Age" era. It is manufactured to a very high level of craftsmanship, as visible from the precise bending of the steel components, by the high-quality bolts and the intricately frosted Murano glass shade. Also the heavy weight confirms the impression of handling a high-quality design piece.
The lamp has two E27 sockets, with internal wiring hidden in the hollow steel rods holding said sockets; a single cable discreetly comes out from underneath a rod. The wiring is entirely original, switch and plug included, and has been overviewed by a professional electrician. Flawless working is ensured.
Overall, the conditions of the piece are great: being mostly manufactured in stainless steel, only a light and even patina is visible; on the chromed parts, some heavier patina is present - but it does not affect in any way the overall appearance of the lamp.
Albeit not signed, the piece is a stunning example of a very peculiar (and lately extremely coveted) era of design; it is guaranteed to make quite the impression on a table, sideboard or even bedside table!.
