About the Item
The Table Lamp is constructed from steam-bent white oak forming a cubed frame that stands on a solid white oak base. The solid white oak base can be removed easily for cleaning and bulb changing. The lamp provides a diffuse light through the Japanese shoji paper which is made from natural tree and shrub pulp. Lighting is provided by a standard fixture for an E-12 bulb. One 7-watt bulb is provided.
The steam bent wood forms an ‘Astroid’ shape on each face. Astroid comes from the Greek word for star. The materials are reminiscent of traditional Japanese lamps, but the star shape is unique to this design.
The lamp is shown in natural White Oak. It can also be ordered in cerused, or white-wash finished white oak.

Darmanin Furniture is designed and hand-crafted in East Hampton Springs, New York. We provide custom and semi-custom furniture for residential and commercial clients who are interested in sculptural pieces that can live and function in their spaces. Our approach to furniture design shares with traditional Japanese makers a respect for the materials, joinery and structural components as an integral and visible part of the finished piece. We combine this with our own aesthetic and graphic-design background to create furniture unique to the studio that displays striking geometry, visual balance and composition. We specialize in natural materials, using solid hard-woods, shoji paper, danish cord, vegetable tanned leather and oil finishes. We favor American grown lumber such as white oak, black walnut, white ash, maple and cherry.
