Vintage cholla wood Table Lamp on Maple Base with Original Shade
About the Item
The midcentury look of this lamp in cholla wood and maple creates a statement lighting moment. The feel is somewhat rustic, as the lamp resembles a tree trunk. From the base to the original box lampshade it offers a graceful silhouette . From the beautiful patina on the base to the Bakelite socket, it is original. It is evocative of a banzai tree in that every part of a tree is present except the scale.
This lamp came from an incredible estate auction in Long Beach that included one-of-a-kind collectible single lamps and impressive pairs.
The lamp works perfectly with a pull on its, yes, original somewhat rusted chain. The silk cord is also original on this lamp and could be replaced with a modern cord depending on your taste. It is fraying at the base. The plug is vintage and original to the lamp in off-white.
This lamp would benefit with a bit of conservancy, but it is collectible and worth the effort.
