Vintage Mushroom Lamp - Maison Lum - Period: 20th Century
About the Item
Vintage mushroom-shaped table or desk lamp, produced and signed by LUM.
In the style of the "Panthella" lamp by the famous Danish designer Verner Panton, who designed it in 1971.
The cream-coloured perspex (acrylic glass) shade is screwed onto a chromed metal stem.
The ivory lacquered metal base is fitted with a working switch.
It works with two E27 screw bulbs - 2 x 60 Watt max.

Designed in 1971, the famous "Panthella" lamp is one of Verner Panton's most famous creations.
The idea behind the design was to create a lamp whose shade and base could be used as a reflector. The curved shapes of the lamp are characteristic of the work of the Danish designer, whose main aim was to create objects with an innovative, futuristic design.
The light source is elegantly concealed by the hemispherical shade, which diffuses a soft, muted light for diffused ambient lighting.
It's hardly surprising that leading lighting companies of the period, such as UNILUX and LUM, have taken inspiration from this magnificent creation for their French distributors.
