Cable is 5’ long, the only way to turned off the lamps it’s to unplug them, you may consider to rewire them if that bothers you.
I’m not an expert on lamps but to me these are not converted but original lamps.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Lamps are in excellent vintage condition with no dings or severe wear, brass is shinny. There isn’t “on/off” switch on the lamps, to turn on/ off needs to be plug or unplug. One bulb socket it’s broken ( see picture) but light turns on just fine.
