About the Item
Collectible design, sculptured mood lighting, one of a kind table lamp, organic shape desk lamp, is made from repurposed beam wood and leftover white marble. Creating new objects from these materials are the real challenge and joy. This sculptural lamp is designed and hand carved by Gabor Gobi. Exploring the possibilities and limits of the repurposed materials, are a way forward for a sustainable life. It is a unique sculptured furniture, I fire burned the wood with Japanese technique Yakisugi to seal the wood. It is finished only with water based varnish.
The bottom of the lamp has a thin cork, to protect your furniture from scratches.
The lamp is part of the Melting Collection. Objects in this collection draws attention to the accelerated climate change of our globe. Human activities have been the main driver of climate change. Melting icecaps, melting tundra, melting everything is our everyday life today. Melting wood, marble is a call for attention not to forget that we have to act together to save our environment.
• The plug type is Euro-plug, but I can rewire it with US-plug.

Gobi Design
For Gabor, to create is to search. He strives to design in a way that does not harm his environment. The moment, the given object and its potential are always the leading force. This is also the main philosophy of gobi.design - the brand aims to combine environmental thinking with a love of design. His vision is for everyone to receive the gifts of a healthy environment on an equal footing, which will then lead to sustainable daily living. This task is both a gift and a huge responsibility, but this is the way how change can be achieved. The objects of gobi.design are part of a natural cycle. Inspired by the trends of upcycling, hygge, wabi-sabi, slow living, degrowth and the like, where the objects do not disappear, they just continue to be shaped by various subtle or harsh forces. He tries to use as much natural materials as possible. He works with them using traditional techniques (eg Yakisugi - Japanese technique of preserving wood with burning). Objects include furniture, accessories and sculptures, but they have one thing in common - each one is salvaged from waste.
