Wpa Artist Minna Harkavy '1887 – 1987' Pair Opposing Bronze Table Lamps
About the Item
Pair of modernist 1930's sculptural bronze table lamps by WPA Artist Minna Harkavy. Raised figural reliefs on both sides of the lamps, with original wood bases. These lamps are extremely heavy thick cast bronze. Recently rewired with brown French twisted sill cords and new sockets. These lamps have adjustable finial rods with the highest being 33" and the lowest being 31" The actual bronze body of the lamp measures 16". Both lamps are signed in the casting.
Minna R. Harkavy was a sculptor, primarily of modernist figures that expressed her feelings of sympathy for the poor. Harkavy exhibited in major institutions: the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois; Whitney Museum of American Art and Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City; Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia; Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh; San Francisco Museum of Art; Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo and Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute, Utica, New York.

- Condition:Replacements made: Professionally rewired with new sockets. Rewired: Recently proffesionally rewired with brown French twisted silkl cords and new sockets. Wear consistent with age and use. Excellent vintage age appropriate condition with rewiring and new sockets. Lampshades not included. A professional electrician has rewired this piece to be in working order.
