About the Item
This minimalist hand-cast reinforced gypsum mirror is a top-quality Ian C.R. Martin Studio piece. It features a striking, concentric design using a backcasting method that integrates the mirror seamlessly into its plaster frame. The plaster is reinforced with fiber, sealed, and backed with a composite wood plate and an oak frame, allowing the mirror to maintain its sleek design while preserving its strength and durability. This piece is mounted with an easy-to-hang French cleat wall mounting bracket.
This piece is made in Ojai, California. It is manufactured artisanally, and every step in the process is carefully executed. This mirror can be exposed to humidity (but not heavy water). Variations in finish and materials are to be expected.

Ian CR Martin
Ian C.R. Martin is an artist and designer based in Los Angeles. He
graduated with a Masters Degree in Sculpture from the New York
Academy of Art, and has worked for over a decade as an interior
designer while maintaining his studio art practice. The ongoing Glyph
& Mirror series showcases Martin's distinct approach to form through
the use of concentric lines and interlocking shapes. His inspiration
stems from in depth study of ritual objects and cross-cultural
architecture, which synthesizes his sculpture and design background.
Experimentation with materials and atypical mold making techniques
are central to his creative process.
