Cosmo Barbaro Furniture specializes in one of a kind studio furniture art that is built with traditional joinery. All of our designs are original designed and built by Cosmo Barbaro. My work strives for simplicity and elegance through thoughtful design aesthetics that cater towards influences in art deco and minimalism. I enjoy simple shapes and forms and am a very visual artist. I am constantly observing objects in both nature and the engineered world. These observations are translated into sketch form where all designs are developed and refined. Often, I use full scale samples to mockup portions of a design that need further understanding. Throughout the design process I am constantly thinking about the engineering of my objects. All of Cosmo Barbaro Furnitures work features traditional joinery. By utilizing types of joinery that ancient Egyptians and Greek furniture designers used (i.e., mortise and tenon joinery) this conscience choice ensures the products will last for centuries. Each design calls for a unique combination of joinery that is designed to make all of my work sturdy and safe. We use mostly solid lumber but also use veneer when required. Alternative materials like solid aluminum, plastic, glass, slate, milk paint shows up consistently through my work. The furniture art that is created by Cosmo Barbaro ages really well and will always look youthful as time passes.
