A Very Rare and Fine 19th Century Giltwood Girandole Hall or Pier Mirror

About the Item

A very rare and fine 19th Century giltwood girondole hall or pier mirror of exceptional quality. The convex mirror glass plate of circular form is set within a stunningly hand carved, moulded and fluted giltwood frame with gorgeous foliate, flowerhead, beaded row and reeded ebonised border detail. Surmounted with an intricately pierced centred crest composition of an arrangement of Neoclassical motifs comprising of a centred flaming urn and shell detail flanked with trailing acanthus leaves and flowerheads. The apron adorned with a further fabulous arrangement of trailing acanthus leaves, flowerheads, bellhusks and elegantly scrolling twin candle girondole arms with foliate motif detail, all exquisitely hand carved in high relief.
