Set of 4 Restored Bauhaus Chairs, Mart Stam, Robert Slezak, Czechia, 1930s

About the Item

Set of 4 Restored Bauhaus Chairs designed by Mart Stam and made by Robert Slezak. Designer: Mart Stam Maker: Robert Slezak Source: Czechia (Czechoslovakia) Period: 1930-1939 Material: Chome-Plated Steel Revived polish. The chrome parts have been cleaned and professionally restored. Designed by Mart Stam, a renowned Dutch designer, and architect pivotal to mid-century design. Stam was a Dutch architect, urban planner, and furniture designer. Stam was extraordinarily well-connected, and his career intersects with important moments in the history of 20th-century European architecture, including the invention of the cantilever tubular chair, teaching at the Bauhaus, contributions to the Weissenhof Estate, the Van Nelle Factory (an important modernist landmark in Rotterdam), buildings. His design philosophy was inspired by both Functionalism and Scientific Communism, and his style of design is in line with the New Objectivity, an art movement formed during the depression in 1920s Germany, as a counter-movement and an out growth of Expressionism. Made by Slezak Factories, a unique Czech furniture brand specialising on chrome and bent metal furniture This item features classic Bauhaus design elements. Elements of this style are neutral colors and occasional bright primary colors. Bauhaus designers avoided the fussy and pretentious, looking for clean, modern lines. Perfect for a timeless yet modern look.
