19th Century Giltwood Mantle Mirror with Ornate Crest

About the Item

A very fine 19th century mantle mirror in gilded wood and stucco. The rectangular mirror plate is enclosed within a narrow gilt frame, surmounted by an outsize and ornate cartouche crest, with trailing swags of delicately carved acanthus leaves and rock roses cascading down over each shoulder to meet the frame below. Moulded swags of ruched ribbon adorn each lower corner, disguising within their design two small feet, on which the mirror can be supported.
