Art Deco mirror designed and produced by 't Woonhuys.A truly eye-catching mirror completely designed in Art Deco style and produced by the illustrious Dutch company 't Woonhuys. We know that the Dutch designers Michel de Klerk and Hildo Krop have taken care of many designs at 't Woonhuys, but unfortunately the designs were never signed. So it remains a guess who designed what. All the more because most of it was made to order and therefore very specific to the wishes of each customer.The way in which a layering has been applied to this mirror is, in our opinion, a feast for the eyes. What is immediately striking is the appearance of the luxurious rosewood veneer, which exudes a feeling of warmth. The relatively large feet or legs are each concave at the front and therefore feel organic. A typification of course for the Art Deco style. The drawings in the wood are vertical and so is the veneer and even extends over the rounded corners of the legs. We also see that the veneer has been mitred on the corners.A rectangular base with rounded corners is placed on the feet. The veneer on the top goes with the length this time. The direction of the mold thus determined whether the veneer was applied horizontally or vertically. On top of the base, another identical layer has been placed, which is attached with the back against the corpus of the mirror. Two semi-circular corner posts create a dynamic of depth and when light falls on them, a sparkle is created. The back is also fully veneered with an impressive drawing, which means that this mirror was designed with the idea of placing it freely in the room. We also see the well-known black-framed brass label with the word mark of 't Woonhuys on the back.The condition of the mirror is good with, of course, light signs of wear that are in line with age and use. The veneer on the foot is chipped in a few places and there is a light haze on the right foot. These are irregularities that can be remedied in our workshop."
