Large Federal Style Gilt Wood Tabernacle Pier Mirror
About the Item
A large and handsome American Federal Style mirror of very good quality in the Federal style, likely made in Italy in the second half of the 20th century. Clusters of colonnettes at the sides support the pediment. An eglomisé panel featuring a reverse glass gilt eagle and garland fills the frieze below a gilded trellis studded with bell flowers in low relief. Gilding is bright with light patina and red bole showing through in places. Mirror plate is beveled and lightly faux patinated with a subtle speckling. Good condition with light wear, small imperfections and signs of age, mainly to the trellis frieze and pediment which shows some minor age cracks.
