1960s Czech Metal Mirror
About the Item
The dramatic patina of this vintage metal mirror lends it a sculptural presence. Made in Czechia in the 1960s, the mirrored disk is set asymmetrically within a circle of painted metal. The silver surface has tarnished to reveal the dark charcoal tone of the metal beneath; the abstract composition recalls the surface of the moon. The metal of the frame, on the other hand, has taken on a rich copper tone inflected with flame-like marks, creating a striking interplay of contrasts and harmonies.
