19th Century French Louis Philippe Rectangular Wall Mirror, 64” H

About the Item

FRENCH LOUIS PHILIPPE WALL MIRROR Circa late 19th century Item # 306IVX21P This nearly full-length wall mirror from the Louis Philippe period features an incredibly relevant form that melds well with today's home, finding itself a perfect fit both in the traditional, classical and modernist home. The simple austerity of the frame with its bold convex molded body devoid of excess or even a hint of embellishment is most compelling - it places all of the emphasis on the historical surface with the ruby-red bole shining through the old worn layer of gilding in a way that positively glows. The frame retains a nice old piece of glass with some good age showing through in the silvering loss without being distracting or impacting functionality. It is a special piece. Measurements: 64 3/4" H x 39 3/8" W Condition Report: Extensively worn surface with a gorgeous patina throughout; gilt losses, blemishes, chips, exposed red bole and underlying white gesso; mirror with silvering loss in a few areas.
