A truly exceptional, and beautiful very large crested French mirror, dating to the early 19th century, this mirror was removed from a chateau in the west of France, overall it is in superb condition, with only a few minor losses of the gesso. The large crest surrounded by laurel leaf decoration, and capped at each end by a torchiere urn. The leaf decoration is continued around the frame, with applied gesso beading around the foxed plate...

A magnificent mid-19th century Napoleon III carved giltwood and gesso mirror. The elaborately designed mirror with female figures rising from pedestals to either side, at top putti emerge from scrolling foliate flanking a central monogrammed cartouch crowned with female mask with star atop, at base scrolling foliate meet over a Horn and pan flute.
