Late 19th Century Adirondack Branch Carved Oak Mirror
About the Item
Late 19th Century Adirondack Frame with Mirror, a hand carved oak frame in the form of entwined branches and leaves, with gentle naturalistic surface texture and a light black tone. The style is classic Adirondack, but the origin is uncertain: much of the old Adirondack and Tramp Art work was done by immigrants from Germany and Scandinavia, where such work was already established. This frame could have been made here, but also could have been made in Sweden or in the Black Forest.
The frame remains in very good condition, with only the expected hairline checks from drying over time. The mirrored panel itself is new.
