Pure gold leaf
In the seventeenth/eighteenth century the use of pure gold leaf was in use.
Not to be confused with imitation gold leaf whose use began in the 19th century and in which only the effect of gold is felt. In fact, the 19th century leaf is made up of a mixture of three different alloys: copper, brass, zinc.
Furthermore, it should not be confused with the so-called "Mecca" processing: silver covered with pigments from the Far East, invented in Naples in the 17th century.
