Locker-Mirror model 23 Manufactured by Viladrich+Heim. Montpellier, 2023. Stainless Steel, Aluminium, Galvanized Steel, Plastic. Measurements 60 x 100h cm 23,6 x 39,4h in Exhibitions Casavells 2023. Concept In this series of new pieces, Viladrich seeks to explore industrial materials to reveal their inherent beauty through refined surface treatments. Through steel, aluminum and fiberglass he investigates the physical nature of objects and their relationship with the contexts they are extracted from. Both functional and sculptural, his work borrows elements from industrial culture, mass consumption and common everyday scenes such as the waiting room or the highway stop. The work of the creative duo Heim+Viladrich takes its inspiration in the industrial details that shape our environments. Trained as designers, Lauriane Heim and Johan Viladrich use and reconfigure the signs of standardization into objects and installations. Both functional and sculptural, their work borrows elements from industrial culture, mass consumption and common everyday scenes such as the waiting room or the highway stop. Lauriane and Johan both graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven and have been collaborating since 2021, when they created their first piece together during Johan’s solo show at Atelier Jespers. After several years spent in Rotterdam (NL), they relocated their studio to the South of France in 2022. Since then, their practice has evolved into two directions: the development of scenographic projects and retail installations, such as the Aire A75 presented during COLLECTIBLE 2022; and the creation of self-initated works often in a limited edition or unique format. They are currently working on several projects including the development of a magazine named Trabalh highlighting industrial techniques and know-how of the Occitanie region in the South of France.
