About the Item
Beautiful neoclassical Empire wall mirror, bright mahogany, carved ebonized (blackened) decor, South Germany, circa 1810.
The wood is mahogany veneer and solid wood, which has been bleached and stained for a brighter cherry tree color tone. Wonderful original carved ebonized wood decor at the top and bottom depicting acanthus leaves, dolphins and tendrils.
All the wood has been hand-polished with shellac (French Polish). It has an old mirror glass.
