French 19th Century 1st Empire Period Patinated and Giltwood Mirror, Circa 1805
About the Item
A striking and extremely decorative French 19th century 1st Empire period patinated and giltwood mirror circa 1805. The mirror displays a central mirror plate framed within an elegant mottled giltwood border and flanked by striking tapered columns at each side with fine reeded plinths and beautiful richly carved acanthus leaf capitals with most decorative triangular and foliate bands extending along the base. Above are lovely giltwood star reserves and exceptional pierced giltwood reserves with beautiful finely detailed musical instruments amidst oak branches with charming leaves, acorns, and arrows draped with swaging fabric. At each side are lovely arrow reserves with fine leaves at the mottled top crown all set on the stunning original teal colored patinated background. All original gilt and patina throughout.
