French 19th Century Louis XIV Style Polychrome and Giltwood Mirror
About the Item
A superb French 19th century Louis XIV st. polychrome and giltwood mirror. The original beveled mirror plate is framed within a most decorative twisted rope designed band and Fine mottled giltwood border with elegant carved geometric patterns. Beautiful finely detailed flowers lead up each side to the majestic pierced top crown. The crown is centered by a fabulous smooth oval cabochon below an impressive foliate reserve. Flanking the reserve are stunning arrays of wonderfully executed scrolled designs and striking richly carved acanthus leaves. All set on a deep forest green rectangular background. All original gilt and patina throughout.
