Italian 18th Century Louis XVI Period Giltwood & Marble Mirror
About the Item
A very elegant and unique Italian 18th century Louis XVI Period Giltwood and Lumachella Carnina O Carnacina marble mirror. This rectangular mirror with all of its original mirror plate, marble and gilding is raised by two topie shaped Giltwood supports that flank the scrolled foliate base. Above each support are the plinths of protruding columns that extend to the top which are made of the wonderful Lumachella Carnina O Carnacina marble. The Giltwood inner edge around the original mirror plate is decorated with a beaded band. The Giltwood capitals are paired with acorn shaped finials atop which flank the top crown. The Giltwood top crown has an urn with the eternal flame which is raised by a mottled plinth with a pierced gallery surrounding.
