Italian 19th Century Neo-Classical St. Giltwood Mirror
About the Item
A striking Italian 19th century Neo-Classical st. giltwood mirror. The mirror retains its original mirror plate framed within a fine mottled border and exceptional wrap around border with most decorative Les Oves designs and beautiful interlocking movements. The top crown displays remarkable carvings of crouching creatures with snake tongues and winged scrolled foliate maidens centering an impressive whimsical lion's head with a smooth family crest in its mouth all set on a hammered background. All original gilt throughout.
