About the Item

Fantastic mirror by Angelo Brotto that impresses with its simplicity and the delicacy of the work. The frame consists of 2 bronze strips lying next to each other which are connected to each other with a loop on the 4 sides. On the front side, the two bronze strips are decorated with a kind of swirl decoration, the side edges are smooth. The mirror is signed Brotto at the bottom left. The mirror glass is intact, the back panel is made of iron. The object is therefore relatively heavy. Biography Angelo Brotto (1914, Venice–2002, Campiglia Marittima, Italy) was a Venetian designer and artist who is known for his work as a lamp designer and for his work with glass. He graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia in 1941, and immediately thereafter, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs commissioned him to paint frescoes in Montenegro. During his career, he won many design and art awards, including awards in Bergamo, Cremona, Suzzara, and Verona, as well as at the first Exhibition of Engravings in Rome. Brotto collaborated with the Murano glassmaker Esperia during the 1960s and 1970s, and he became a prolific lighting designer during this collaboration.
