An original antique barber shop scissor extension mirror with Japanned or copper flashed metal, wood back and beveled mirror. The mirror tilts and extends out to 48 inches.
CREATOR Possibly F.A. Hardy and Co.

MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES Copper Plate, Metal, Glass, Wood.
CONDITION Good. Wear consistent with age and use.

HISTORY
Japanning is a type of finish that originated as a European imitation of East Asian lacquer work. It was first used on furniture, but was later much used on small items in metal. The word originated in the 17th century.
