About the Item

Orion shows a dramatic triptych of custom made nebula mirrors, with clouds of silvering flowing across the expanse of glass, layered with coloured translucent resin and further silvering, giving a sense of shifting depth to the piece. There are two layers of reflectivity, the pure silver giving pure reflection which is gradually replaced where the silver disburses to reveal another reflection seen through the translucent coloured resins. From a distance this piece is read as an artwork, a painting like impression of looking at nebula in the night sky, yet gradually the intrigued viewer realises it is also a mirror. The technique can be applied to custom compositions, from a single mirror to a number of panels as shown here. The frames shown are black patinated steel, though these to can be customised to harmonise with the interior - please see illustration of wooden frame with brass brackets. This piece is typical of the unique processes and compositions created by this maker. It is captivating not just in the play of reflectivity and colour but intriguing in how the layering is created.
