About the Item

Large Gio Ponti era Mid-Century Modern wall mirror in patinated brass. Made in Italy in 1950s. The shape of the mirror is a very elegant oval, symmetrical both horizontally and vertically. The face of the brass frame is ridged to give a subtle but stunning ribboning effect of 3 concentric rings of brass. At the most narrow point of the mirror, there are two functional and decorative clasps over the frame, also in brass. This mirror is constructed in wood, with a brass lip wrought around the perimeter and holding the mirror in place. The wall mount is hidden behind the mirror and recessed into the wood to ensure a flush adhesion to the wall. The brass is showing an attractive age-appropriate patina. The glass is in good condition without any meaningful scratches. The original reflective foil behind the glass is showing the early signs age related corrosive patination. Not pronounced enough to photograph but visible in certain light. If the antique glass look is not to your taste, we can very easily open the frame to have the mirror switched out for a new one. The object is highly versatile and suitable for most rooms in the home, including foyer, bedroom, bathroom, dressing room etc. The height of the mirror is 32 in (81 cm) and 20 in (51 cm) at its widest point.
