Steel Bedroom Suite by Norman Bel Geddes for Simmons

About

Norman Bel Geddes (American 1893-1958) was a well respected Industrial and theatrical designer. He created the GM Pavilion for the New York Worlds Fair, along with many other important designs. His furniture for Simmons of Chicago, created between 1929 to 1932, was groundbreaking. His use of painted steel as a glamorous material was unheard of in home furnishings at the time. Our set is in original black lacquer with chromium trim. The set includes a dressing table, with mirror and stool, a standing dresser, and a full size bed, including side rails. There is also a nearly new mattress set included, which appears to be brand new (if desired). The set is in remarkable condition, and displays very well. The dressing table measures 49" long, 17" deep, and 30.5" high. The dresser dimensions are listed below.
