Early 19th C West Indies Mahogany Four Poster Bed

About

This grand mahogany bed, circa 1820, has been given a reproduction headboard and queen size cedar rails that were carved in a manner appropriate to the period. Because of the rarity of Caribbean antiques, especially four-poster beds, restoration is warranted if done in a manner sympathetic to what would have been the original form. The restoration efforts for this bed were based upon the existing posts. Winding and reeded posts are quintessentially West Indies in style and are beautifully represented in this piece.
