  • 18th Century, Italian Neoclassical Wood Inlaid Cabinet
    Located in IT
18th century, Italian Neoclassical Wood Inlaid Cabinet This refined neoclassical cabinet was built around the end of the 18th century in Genoa, Italy. The sides and the front are entirely inlaid with the use of wooden essences such as bois de rose, boxwood and green wood. The inlaid surfaces are partly pyro graphed and burnished by the use of burnt sand. This very refined technique allows to create a greater definition of the ornaments and also confer three-dimensionality and chiaroscuro to the drawings. Predominantly dark, the elegant inlays create neoclassical designs with decorations with phytomorphic and floral motifs, inspired by the taste of the time. Laterally in the centre in a lozenge there are also heads in profile, while on the front, inside an almond supported by festoons is pirographed the face of a woman with curly hair that emerges from a plume divided into two. The uprights of the cabinet, also inlaid with foliage and floral decorations, are slightly projecting from the side walls and the front, an elegant feature of the Genoese area. This game of different levels and levels, which gives great value to the furniture, produces a game of perspective and movement of great effect. The front part consists of a single door that opens to the right. The interior is divided by a small drawer with a bronze opening ring...

  • 18th Century, Italian Louis XV Wood Center Table
    Located in IT
18th century, Italian Louis XV wood center table This elegant and refined center cabinet was made in Turin around the mid-18th century. Characteristic of the high Piedmontese cabinet making, for this piece of furniture, a veneer was chosen with the particular wood, applied on the piece of furniture with a sophisticated game of mirrors and patterns of the wood grain. The furniture has a shaped and wavy top, and the wooden essence creates a chromatic game called "a occhio di pernice" (partridge eye). On the front it consists of two drawers and a compartment protected by two doors. The opening system of the doors is sliding, very rare and difficult to achieve. The mouthpieces of the locks are in chiseled bronze and gold, as well as the tips of the four legs that are arched and graceful, typical of the Baroque. This cabinet is perfect for any room and can also be exposed in the center of a room thanks to its finish on all four sides. It is also suitable alongside modern and antique furniture.
