Large Architectural Walnut Nightstand, Handcrafted
About the Item
Large handcrafted architectural American black walnut nightstand. Designed by Sum furniture and handcrafted in England using traditional furniture making techniques with the finest American Black Walnut. Hand-cut oversized dovetail jointing detail with a thick turned walnut upright pillar piercing through the sections reinforced internally with a steel bar.
Designed to be multi functioning pieces that can also be used as nightstands, seating stools or end tables - scaled up larger versions for sofa/coffee tables. Inspired by Deco and early European Modernist architecture - these are very substantial, visibly bold and striking pieces of handmade furniture, built to last. Finished in durable natural oils.
Alternative versions in English oak are available.
Custom dimensions are available to order and quoted upon request.
We design bold and distinctive pieces of furniture – our main objective is combining the design alongside the natural beauty and properties of the raw materials.
These timbers and materials are very carefully chosen for each specific design - maintaining our focus on the benefits, visual impact and strengths of what we use.
Our regular use of English Quartersawn Oak is one case in point. It has been the beloved timber of fine furniture makers across the world for centuries. It is costly to produce but gives huge benefits and rewards such as its striking medullary rays and superb stability qualities.
By utilising these wonderful and naturally occurring features and timbers with our contemporary designs we aim to continue creating some very distinct, tactile and idiosyncratic pieces.
These are all completely handmade, in very small numbers, by our skilled craftspeople in England.
