Pair of Vintage Asymmetrical White Oak and Grasscloth Nightstands
About the Item
Pair of grasscloth-wrapped white oak nightstands, ca. late 1980s/early 1990s, USA.
Composed of two hinged doors concealing open storage flanked by a single, removable shelf.
The asymmetrical design counteracts the heft and size of the pieces, giving them an airiness with the sweeping curves of the tapered top and partially inset form (one door is recessed, as shown).
There is light, age-commensurate wear present (few snags to the grasscloth and light tonal unevenness - the pair matches perfectly, the pictures give the impression that one nightstand is slightly darker than the other, which is not the case). Overall, in very good, vintage condition.
