Pair of midcentury nightstands or side tables with drawers and additional shelve ,brass details and feet. Designed Architect Pier Luigi Spadolini –Florence, Italy, late 1950s. Pierluigi Spadolini (Florence, 5 April 1922 - Florence, 8 June 2000) was an Italian architect and designer. He was brother of the best known politician, several times Minister of the Republic and head of government in the years 1981 and 1982, Giovanni Spadolini. He graduated in 1952 and began his autonomous activity as an architect, creating numerous works, individually or as a project manager. In the public building sector and in the private construction sector. He is an Industrial Design consultant for the radio, television and home appliances of Magneti Marchi, ICS, Lesa, Grez di Düsseldorf and Autovox; for electromedical equipment of the Biomedical OTE; for furniture by Arflex, Kartell and 1P; for pleasure Craft of the Cantieri Navali di Pisa. In 1954 he moved to Milan where he joined the Milan Triennale and collaborated with the editors of 'Casabella' directed by Ernesto Natan Rogers. He is Ordinary of Architectural Composition and Director of the Institute of Construction and of Special Technologies and has determined the establishment of the Department of Artistic Design for Industry at the Faculty of Architecture of Florence. In 1962 he joined the teaching body of the ISIA in Florence directed by Angelo Maria Landi. Among his best known works we can mention the Sede de La Nazione (1961-1965), the Palazzo dei Congressi in Florence (1974), the Spadolini Pavilion in the Fortezza da Basso (1974-1976) - which takes its name from him - and the Turin Courthouse (1994-1998). His is also the project of the church of Santa Maria Madre del Redentore, located in Rome in the popular district of Tor Bella Monaca and the church of San Carlo Borromeo located at the Centro Direzionale in Naples and the largely hypogeum building that hosted the S.M.A. at the nearby Villa Strozzi in San Martino a Soffiano, Florence. He was one of the leading experts in the field of Industrial building production, module design and construction with architectural panels. In applying its principles, it has attempted to achieve an integration between the moment of design and that of production. A concrete expression of these his theories was the prototype of the new post office, designed on commission by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications to compensate for the chronic shortage of postal equipment: a modular building, mass-produced and achievable with little expense, regardless of the context building and environment in which it was to be inserted. Spadolini was also an important designer on the international scene, especially in the field of shipbuilding (yachts). Rich is also its theoretical activity, which has found accommodation in numerous publications. He is a member of the Commission for the regulation of school buildings and of the Central Committee for University Construction of the Ministry of Education. In 1988 he founded the Spadolini e Associati studio with his son Guido. In 1989 he organized and participated in a series of lectures in Moscow for the officials of the Ministry of Public Works of the Soviet Union which ended with the convention "Architecture and System". From 1989 to 1992 he is a member of the Scientific Committee of the magazine "L'Arca". In 1992 he obtained the national IN-ARCH award for the construction of the new Head Office of Assicurazioni Generali; in the same year he took part in the exhibition of religious architecture at the Venice Biennale. His works include the Casa del Turista in Montepiano for the Florence Tourist Board (1953-1954), the portable TV project R.V. 126 'Movision' Radiomarelli (1956), the headquarters of the National Injury Prevention Agency in Florence (1956-1957), the residential buildings for the district 'La Rosa'a Livorno (1958-1962), the headquarters of the National Institute of Health Insurance di Siena (1960-1963), the residential complex 'L.3.
