Art Deco Wood and Chrome Airplane SeaPlane Aviation Model, France 1940s

About the Item

A fantastic French Art Deco chrome and wood airplane/seaplane model mounted on a stylized wood plinth. A superbly crafted rendering of the legendary quadri-propellers seaplane, strikingly evocative of a golden age in air travel. This handsome 1940s desk or counter model airplane is made of varnish wood and chromed metal wings and tail, with exterior chrome detailing and four propellers on the wings. The seaplane stands on a geometric solid wood block with a metal arm. It has a tag that says: "The Phiphi" on a brass plaque. There is no other visible maker's mark. This is a great desk accessory for aviation collectors and lovers. The airplane is in good condition, with minor wear on the metal, but it does not significantly affect the overall appearance. Measurements: Overall: 10.25 in wide (26 cm) x 14.57 in deep (37 cm) x 8.69 in high (22 cm). Plane: 14.57 in wingspan (37 cm) x 10.25 in long (26 cm).
