About the Item
Water-color, pastel and pencil by Riccardo Cavigioli representing two biplane airplanes. High= two-seat twin-engined biplane Caudron G IV of the 1915. Low=two single-seat biplane fighter Nieuport 17, produced in the late spring of 1916. Measure with frame cm 93 x 78 - inches 37 x 31.
Riccardo Cavigioli was born in Milan on 10th November 1895 and he died in Gavirate (VA) on 27th May 1975; he was an aviation writer, draftsman and illustrator for important advertising campaigns; his water-colors were shown for the first time to in Turin Exhibition in 1928 and they are an important historical report. He contributed to aeronautical magazine and he published in 1934 the treatise “Austro-Hungarian aviation on Italian front in 1915-1918”, an important work for knowledge about history of Italian aviation.
