Stated First edition softcover. 255 pp., profusely illustrated with 190 color and 275 b&w plates and photographs. A great reference work on this movement. Introduction by Max Palevsky. Subject headings for the essays: "Setting the Stage: Europe" and "Myths and Realities of the American Arts & Crafts Movemet." Includes; Furniture, Metalwork, Ceramics, Glass as well as Miscellaneous Mediums. Influenced by developments in Europe, American proponents in the late 19th and early 20th centuries promoted the minor arts as fine art handwrought by individual craftsmen, extolling the virtue of everyday objects and a return to simple materials and workmanship. Published on the occasion of the exhibition from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles CA September 23, 1990-January 6, 1991. With Appendix of Marks.
