Beyond the Horizon Semester at Sea Around-the-world Voyage Dreams Fulfilled Book

About the Item

Beyond the Horizon Semester at Sea Spring Book. Beyond the Horizon Semester at Sea Spring Book around-The-World Voyage Dreams Fulfilled Paperback – Spring 2000. The Fall-2000 Global Study Abroad 111-day Voyage of 450 College Students visited 14 foreign ports for cultural and logistical experiences coupled with College Classes in a shipboard floating college campus steaming 32,000-miles east around the world. Forty-two Professor families and 70 Life Long Learners joined students. All melded together and experienced the personal growth of travel to distant countries, visiting historical and significant places characteristic of a country while learning about self through each interaction. This writing is my Life Long Learner diary coupled with a mix of communications to give a vicarious flavor to your read as you voyage with us. College students are immersed in a Literal Study Abroad Program Setting. Professors were drawn from Institutes of Higher Learning across the Globe. Shore Excursions are tied to class material. Reports of interactions and lessons gained ashore are required. The Voyage was a life-changing event for every participant. The nice thing too is that each of us touched hearts in people we met and changed the world and do not know the outcome. The College Program opens many doors in the long hallway of life and will shine awareness and a new self through the doorway far into the future. The first door reveals the importance of entry into the program with an open mind committed to maximizing the experience. The second door reveals the educational link to fruitful exploration of the culture and societal exposure gained by visiting the peoples of a nation in their home country. The third door opens inward to provide the possibility of exponential personal growth and understanding of where we fit into the grand scheme of Global Citizenship. The fourth door opens choices to a new life for each student and for each person privileged to be aboard for this Voyage of a Lifetime Fall 2011 as we board the M V Explorer ship and circumnavigate the globe voyaging east from Montreal and visit 14 distant and unique countries on this Study Abroad Program. It was my privilege to be aboard the Voyage as an adult Lifelong Learner touching hearts and changing the world. The impact of the trip provided the catalyst for me to write this book. It is my recommendation that every college student consider the Semester at Sea program for its life-long benefits provide a firm foundation on which to continue building a successful and fruitful future for the individual and society as a whole. Education is a gift lasting a lifetime. It is one of the best gifts to self. I trust this writing will be entertaining as you travel vicariously with us around the world. You may find a hidden treasure or desire to learn or travel inside of you as you move with us. Welcome to my Semester at Sea - A Round-the-World Voyage. * Publisher : Independently published 2000 * Language : English * Paperback : 112 pages.

This book is great for the architecture and home-styling lover, inspiration for the renovation starter, or as a lovely coffee table book for any home. Taschen, the publisher of Brobdingnagian art and design books, has collected 100 interiors in two hefty volumes, like an Oxford English Dictionary of global interiors. A is for an apartment in Amsterdam, overlooking the North Sea Canal. It is also for a concrete spaceship of a house (plus moat) in Acapulco. B is for Beijing and Beverly Hills and Berlin, and not one but two cold war-era apartments — one in former Soviet housing, its pocked cement walls now patina for a young artist’s vintage and Ikea furniture. C is for Cape Town, and the home of an artist who works in mosaics and plumbing pipes painted in rainbow colors. In Chiang Mai, a house on stilts is tiled in concrete imprinted with bamboo. In New York City, a computer consultant lives in a former garage outfitted with twin sleeping pods made from an oil truck tank. This collection represents the greatest hits from Taschen’s archive Includes interiors in Argentina, Brazil, China, Cuba, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Morocco, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the UK, the USA, and many more countries. With pictures by leading interior photographers including Xavier Béjot, Pieter Estersohn, Marina Faust, Reto Guntli, François Halard...
