Diana, Princess of Wales by Mario Testino at Kensington Palace

About the Item

Published by Taschen, accompanying the exhibition Diana Princess of Wales by Mario Testino at Kensington Palace in London, 24 November 2005 - 1 July 2007. 2005 Hardback English text with corresponding French and German translations. This book brings together the vivid images of Princess Diana’s very last portrait sitting, executed by legendary photographer Mario Testino just five months before her death. Shot in a relaxed and intimate setting, Testino captured the infectious smile and Princess Di’s beauty in a lesser-adorned state. Out of sight with the usually encrusted jewellery and hair-do, Princess Di unravels in her au naturale aura of charm and beauty. “We just wanted to treat her like a young woman, in these evening dresses” Testino said. This book is edited by Patrick Kinmonth, a long-term collaborator and friend of Testino’s. It also includes an interview with Testino on his recollections of the sitting, by Hamish-Bowles. Lavishly illustrated with coloured and black-and-white photographs, it’s a fitting tribute to Princess Di’s vibrant personality and far-reaching legacy. Dimensions: 27 x 30.5 x 2.3 cm Condition: Very good, with some yellowing on the lower edge of the book.
