About the Item
This is a deluxe edition in two volumes which does justice to the splendour of this incomparable collection. This collection has never before been the subject of such an important work and its publication has required contributions from leading qualified art historians and the compilation of a large quantity of high quality illustrations. Volume 1 includes a brief history of the collection and there are separate chapters on certain of the featured ebenistes such as Boulle, Cressent and Riesener. Volume 2 is mainly devoted to chairs and seating of the 17th and 18th centuries. 564 pages in total, lavishly illustrated throughout, the text is in English. With presentation slip case.
