Gerhard Richter: Forty Years of Painting - Robert Storr - 1st Edition, 2002

About the Item

Published by MoMA, 1st edition, New York, 2002. Hardback with English text. Nearly 300 coloured and black and white colour plates. From the austere photo-based figurative realism of the 1960s, to brightly coloured gestural abstraction of the ‘80s, Richter’s long career yielded a varied body of oeuvre: from the thought-provoking black-and-white paintings of the Red Army Faction, intimate portraits, delicate landscapes, to architectural sculptures, the majority of them in the medium of painting. This retrospective monograph is an important documentation of Richter’s career. Consists of a critical essay by Robert Storr, an interview with the artist himself, a chronology and a list of exhibition history. Dimensions: 26 x 29.5 x 4 cm Condition: Fine interior, Fine dust jacket.

Large Spain Castilla Robert De Vaugondy 1751 1st Edition -Colored- Ric.a001 Coming from a family of cartographers, a descendant of the famous Nicolas Sanson and ordinary geographer of the king, Gilles Robert de Vaugondy makes himself known by his maps of the French provinces. He published an Essay on the History of Geography (1755) from which he excluded the physical geography "too systematic". After a Small Atlas (1748), he draws a universal Atlas (1758), a portable Atlas (1762). His Atlas of the revolutions of the globe remains unpublished. His warnings and prefaces, his book reviews reveal a Cartesian mind and solid knowledge. Very early, he associates with his works his son Didier who publishes, since 1742, the methodical tables of Nicolas Sanson, two Globes, one terrestrial, the other celestial (1752). He is credited with a map of Poland...
