Inside Tangier Houses & Gardens Book by Nicolò Castellini Baldissera

About the Item

Inside Tangier Houses & Gardens By: Nicolò Castellini Baldissera Photography by Guido Taroni Foreword by Hamish Bowles Introduction by Umberto Pasti A white-walled city perched between Morocco and Europe, Tangier was long a haven for the literary and artistic avant-garde—and black sheep—of Europe and America. Now a new generation of residents are blending color, pattern, and taste to create an interior aesthetic all their own. Inside Tangier explores a selection of these exceptional properties and their eccentric inhabitants—from antiques dealer and collector Gordon Watson and interior designer Frank de Biasi to the late fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and antiques dealer Christopher Gibbs—providing rare insights into the sometimes bohemian, sometimes extravagant, but always stylish “Tangerine” lifestyle. Nicolò Castellini Baldissera is the great-grandson of renowned Italian architect Piero Portaluppi and an accomplished interior designer in his own right. His commissions have taken him across Italy, to Paris, Gstaad, Tangier, South Africa, and New York. Based in London, he has had a home in Tangier for over a decade. Milan-born photographer Guido Taroni has shot campaigns for some of Italy’s leading fashion houses and regularly contributes to a variety of noted publications including Architectural Digest and Cabana. Taroni’s first book—The Interiors and Architecture of Renzo Mongiardino: A Painterly Vision—was published in 2017 by Rizzoli. Out East Houses and Gardens of the Hamptons By: Jennifer Ash Rudick Photographs by Tria Giovan Cool breezes, miles of pristine beaches, and vast, open farmland have long attracted visitors to Long Island’s South Fork, known worldwide as “The Hamptons.” Residents in picturesque seaside communities from Southampton to Montauk are calling upon world-class designers to fine-tune their visions, giving rise to a fresh design vernacular: homes that are testaments to what can be achieved when inspired by the natural beauty of a unique locale—and when imagination is one’s only limitation. Out East captures the enduring appeal of shingled houses, modernist oceanfront designs, artists’ compounds, and Montauk surf shacks...

Nora Murphy’s Country House Style Making Your Home a Country House By: Nora Murphy with Deborah Golden Photography by DuAnne Simon “Nora Murphy is in a country state of mind. The founder of Connecticut Country House, a venture that encompasses an online magazine and blog about all things country, her dedication goes way beyond milk paints and Americana crafts. Instead, the former Executive Vice President of Style at Ethan Allen has built a business and a lifestyle around embracing the concept of the country house.” —Connecticut Cottages & Gardens Nora Murphy has turned her passion for country house style and its embodiment—her own home in Newtown, Connecticut—into a multimedia juggernaut. Her blog, website, e-magazine, strong presence on social media, and increasing visibility in print media and on TV have earned her a devoted following all over the country and around the world. And now she has distilled the essence of her knowledge about the fundamentals of country house style and how to achieve it in this irresistible volume. In the introduction, Murphy lays out the universal elements of country house style: creating a place where everyone is always welcome; where comfort is always in style; where there’s always room for our favorite things; where there’s always a reason to celebrate; where we honor tradition by changing it up; where home extends well beyond our walls. The body of the book shows how the elements of this comfortable, comforting, easy aesthetic and approach to life can be applied in different ways and in different locations to striking, individual effect. Murphy features six homes, beginning with her own, each of which expresses a unique take on the style, from elegant country to English cottage country to vintage farmhouse country to historical country. Part primer, part wish book, Nora Murphy’s Country House Style, illustrated entirely with specially commissioned photography, is all inspiration. Nora Murphy studied interior design at the Fashion Institute of Technology and founded her own interior design and architectural and product illustration...
