White duck, boldly colored fabrics in solids, stripes, and jaunty prints, rattan and cane seating, whitewashed or colorfully painted English case furniture, canopied beds, straw matting—these are but some of the signature ingredients of an Amanda Lindroth interior. The Florida-born designer decamped to Nassau some twenty years ago after stints in New York and London. Since she founded her firm in 2010, she has become the go-to designer of island dwellers from Lyford Cay to Antigua, Abaco to Belize, Harbour Island to Palm Beach, and Southampton to Great Cranberry Island in Maine. Her airy, relaxed, indoor-outdoor aesthetic—a hybrid that merges colonial and island influences—is apparent in every one of the twenty-five projects featured in Island Hopping. With photographs by the masterly Tria Giovan, herself an island native, and charming illustrations by the gifted Aldous Bertram, who decorated the living room walls of Lindroth’s pied-à-terre in Palm Beach with trompe l’oeil renderings that range from chinoiserie overdoors to tropical foliage, the book is the equivalent of an island getaway.
Amanda Lindroth, a graduate of Wellesley College, went from writing about fashion for Women’s Wear Daily’s “Eye” column in New York to heading up Gucci’s public relations department in London before moving to Nassau, where she opened her design firm in 2010. Since then, she has opened a second studio and a shop in Palm Beach and has recently launched a line of raffia and rattan housewares, totes, and basket bags called Lindroth Island.
Tria Giovan grew up in the Virgin Islands, where she first picked up a camera at age eight. She specializes in interiors, still life, food, and portraiture. Her work has been published in Coastal Living, Esquire, House Beautiful, Travel & Leisure, and Veranda. She was the principal photographer for Fifth Avenue Style: A Designer’s New York Apartment and Out East: Houses and Gardens of the Hamptons, also from Vendome Press. Two monographs of her work have been Published: Sand Sea Sky: The Beaches of Sagaponack and Cuba: The Elusive Island.
Aldous Bertram is an interior designer and artist. After working with Amanda Lindroth for eight years, Aldous now runs his own Interior Design studio based in Charleston, South Carolina. He received his PhD from Cambridge University, specializing in the historical influence of China on English garden design and architecture.

- Mexican A Journey Through Design Book by Newell TurnerLocated in New York, NYMexican A Journey Through Design By: Newell Turner Foreword by Susana OrdovasAn American expat searches vibrant cities and quiet pueblos for the essence of Mexican style Revealing the richly visual and cultural details that are the essence of Mexican style, design editor and photographer Newell Turner has done for Mexican design what legendary culinary pioneer Diana Kennedy did for Mexican food. Elegantly organized around nine decisive decorative periods that have shaped México’s unique design journey to the present day, Turner establishes a visual dialogue with the reader that beautifully captures the depth and subtleties of the country’s aesthetic legacy. Ushered behind the walls, gates, and doors of private México, we are introduced to an intriguing world of interior design and architecture—including the highly developed civilizations pre-dating the arrival of Columbus; the Spanish colonial arts; the dynamic response to global movements such as Art Deco and Surrealism; and a rich survey of modernist and contemporary work. Woven intricately into this history is Turner’s own story of discovering the distinctive soul of México, where —in the spirit of memoirs in which a traveler discovers another country —he finds himself along the way. In this vivid volume of color, texture and contrasts, Turner examines the extraordinary range of Mexican design with the insight of a true devotee. The breathtaking photography shows how every room, courtyard, loggia—and even a chair, or an arrangement of flowers—are part of a rich design heritage. Turner spent his magazine career chronicling American style, and now his unerring eye...Category
