Jean-Michel Frank by Leopald Diego Sanchez (Book)

About the Item

pp Text by Leopold Diego Sanchez. "A testimony of rigour and timelessness that today make us think that more than a decorator, Jean-Michel Frank is a precursor, who, starting with a piece of furniture, was an architect and, beyond that, an innovator." Frank was an interior decorator and furniture designer who worked in the first half of the 20th century who had a short and tragic life which ended in suicide in 1941 and therefore there is only a small amount of his furniture available. He was known for sumptuous furniture and his use of luxurious materials such as Shagreen, Macassar, Ebony and the mixture of textures such as bronze, vellum and various leathers and skins. He worked for a number of the famous fashion houses such as Schiaparelli, Lucien Lelong designing their salons and collaborated with other designers such as Alberto and Diego Giacometti and Christian Bérard. Paris, Editions du Regard, 1997 (expanded edition), 264pages. text in English and French. 1930 grams.
