About the Item
1st Edition 2002 by Ferrari Fulvio published by Umberto Allemandi text English
A very rare and important book with beautiful photographs throughout principally in colour. Lamps are exceptional among furniture in having both a functional and highly decorative nature. In the late 1960s, when Italian society was in turmoil and design was looking for ways to express the new, industrialised country, many designers and artists took up the challenge of creating revolutionary lighting. For this book, Fulvio Ferrari has chosen 178 memorable lamps of the period, made by fifty-six different companies and devised by some 120 designers. Three eye-witnesses and specialists in design, Andrea Branzi, Roberto Gabetti and Gillo Dorfles, have contributed essays.condition: very good

- '71 - NY - Daido Moriyama – Signed 1st Edition, PPP, 2002By Daido Moriyama 1Located in London, GBFirst edition, limited to 3000 copies, published by PPP Editions, New York, 2002. Signed by Daido Moriyama at title page. “In 1971, Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama took a trip to New York City with Tadanori Yokoo. He stayed at the Chelsea Hotel and spent his days in The Museum of Modern Art Photography Study Center looking at pictures taken by Weegee. He shot 100 rolls of film with a half-frame camera, yielding 70 images per roll. Some of those pictures are presented here.” With hundreds of high quality black and white reproductions on heavy paper, and signed by Daido Moriyama at the title page, this classic photobook is immediately recognisable as Moriyama’s work, with his high-contrast, grainy and seemingly fleeting style. Including an interview with Moriyama, an essay by art writer and curator Neville Wakefield, and an appropriately chosen exact from James Baldwin’s Another Country, this is an involving record of Moriyama’s trip to a changing New York seen...Category

- Mediterranean Design Book by Mary Whitesides 1st Edition, 2006Located in North Hollywood, CAMediterranean Design hardcover – August 17, 2006. by Mary Whitesides (Author). Title: Mediterranean Design Publisher: brand: Gibbs Smith Publication date: 2006 Binding: Hardcover Great hardcover coffee table book. Mediterranean Design reveals the vibrant color, outdoor-living emphasis, and diverse cultural influences that have created this unique style. Defined by an eclectic mix of natural elements: sunlight bouncing across textured walls, rooms arranged around porch-lined courtyards, terra-cotta tile roofs covering wood-beam ceilings, arched passages and porticos, vibrantly colored interiors, and courtyards and fountains that take advantage of the temperate climate. Mediterranean Design brings home the romantic and worldly appeal of a style that finds its heritage in the diverse lands of Morocco, Spain, Greece, Turkey, France, and Croatia. Mediterranean Design highlights the unique aspects of the style, such as spatial orientation of the rooms is defining and private vestibules and porches rather than hallways connecting functional spaces, bedrooms as suites rather than lonely rooms, bathrooms as spas rather than generic or merely functional rooms. Details such as arches, pillars, high ceilings, fountains, gardens, pergolas, lime-washed walls, stone façades...Category
