Miró’s oeuvres have been interpreted from varying angles from the reference point of the 20th-century art movement. A prolific and complex figure, Miró’s works exhibited influence from the Dada and surrealism movements, a sense of Catalan nationalism also pervaded his early surrealist landscapes.
The posters in this book have been made for various cultural undertakings, such as advertising for his own exhibitions, collective demonstrations, acts of homage, books, conferences, and so on. This volume intends to shed light on the lesser-known aspect of Miro’s works which contributed to the diffusion of his images - his masterly produced posters. The poster is a perishable but lasting art form and collectable in its own right. This volume highlights the role of Miró’s posters and gives them the stage to shine with an unprecedented amount of Miró’s posters presented in a chronicle manner until the date of publication.
